Hi everyone,
2024 has already been an incredible year, though it started slowly, momentum is now building! For those who know me through my endeavours at Mbele, IdeaHacks, Tech-Clarity Coach, my various webinars, or my mentoring sessions, you're aware that my core passion lies in leveraging technology for social good.
Having worked extensively with creatives around the world, particularly in Africa, I've seen firsthand the vibrant percentage of young people thriving in the creative sector. Over the years, as I've observed the creative industry, and with African music gaining global prominence, I've noticed significant gaps in our film and TV industry. While cinemas are experiencing a resurgence and platforms like streaming services and YouTube are broadening the reach of African stories, there remains a crucial challenge: discovering African movies and TV shows is often difficult. They are spread across various platforms, with comprehensive reviews, viewing locations, and detailed insights into the creatives behind these projects often hard to find. Unfortunately, international platforms frequently overlook African content.
Instead of simply lamenting these issues, I decided to take action. A few months ago, I began developing the first-ever Africa Movie Database (AMDB). But it's not just any movie database; it's much more. Allow me to introduce PartyJollof Africa.
Since announcing PartyJollof Africa, the support and positive feedback have been overwhelming, and I am incredibly excited about this project. This platform will unify various elements of one of the oldest entertainment industries in Africa, creating a centralized hub where African stories can truly shine. I invite you to join me on this remarkable journey. Visit our website and sign up to ensure you're among the first to know when we launch. Your support means the world as we prepare to bring African cinema to the forefront of the global stage.
